Handspring Treo 600 [ Geekiness ]
Just got a demo unit of the Handspring Treo 600 for eval purposes @ work, started playing around with it. Tested out the browser after poking around, and of course tried to pull up slashdot. Main page works fine, but if I try to log in, I get a:
"Browser Error - Unknown URL: http://slashdot.org/users.pl"
error dialog box. Pah!
More to come on this.
Tried using the Treo 600 to log into freemode.net - could pull up the blog, but couldn't log in - got the equivalent of a "could not connect to server" message:
"Data Timeout - The page download could not be completed. Please try again later."
Still need to run some browser torture tests and also try to gauge the speed of the connection.
I got the Palm Desktop software installed, with the Outlook connector, and synch'd it up with my Outlook contacts + calendar. One beef - for each service (contacts, calendar, etc.) it asked if I wanted to synch the Treo to Outlook or overwrite Outlook's data with the handheld data. Seems that a single question up front would suffice - "Synch to Outlook, Overwrite Outlook, or prompt me for each one".
I'm setting up a dummy POP3 account on my domain to test out its mail retrieval - treo600@freemode.net. We'll see how that works next.
